Paradise! From the moment you walk under the beautiful archway through the medieval front door, you’re met with elegance and history around every corner. And the staff is fantastic! Can’t say enough about the warm welcome and the absolutely marvelous breakfast. Make sure you give yourself a full hour to enjoy this splendid breakfast spread (a buffet with champagne and fresh organic juice, artisan bread rolls from the famous local bakery, eggs and coffee prepared to your wish, and a lovely 2-tiered plate with meats, cheeses and all kinds of dips.) Needless to say, the food is incredible! And the rooms + views are second to none (we could look right out on the ruins where King Richard the Lionheart had been imprisoned). The chocolate and fruit welcome dish was also a beautiful touch. Thank you for the most wonderful and romantic stay (ended up being our engagement trip!). We will be back! :)

The property is lovely and close to the walk up to the castle. We loved our welcome drink at a nearby pub which also sold delicious homemade apricot jam. Our room was spacious with a lovely view of the river. It was the end of the season so unfortunately the downstairs bar was closed which looked lovely and the outside pool was also lovely. I did get the opportunity to use the spa (which I had to myself) and really enjoyed the steam room, spa and indoor pool. Very relaxing. We went to see the fall foliage and castle it was a beautiful time of year to walk the town. I thought the hotel was closing November 1st but it was closing mid October the weekend we were leaving. So we missed utilizing all the hotel accommodations. The old elevator is charming although can be confusing since it opens on both sides to different rooms.

My friend and I asked for a specific room and we got it. We were amazed by the beauty of it ! Ask for THOR1, it's incredible ! The staff is sooooo nice and does everything to make your stay perfect. We were welcomed with a plate of fruits and some home made chocolate. We received a compliment drink in a little bar that belongs to the hotel 3 blocks away. The drinks in the fridge were free. The breakfast was really good. We had dinner on the terrace and it was just delicious ! The view on the Danube was amazing with the sunset. We strongly recommend this hotel ! We just LOVED it ! You won't regret it !

If you want to visit the Wachau valley this is the place to stay. Tastefully renovated property with modern features while still maintaining originality. Incredible views. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Nice buffet breakfast with a wide selection of food choices. The main restaurant is good as well for dinner. There is an outside pool, which was too cold for me, and an indoor pool for those wanting warmer water. One of the most attractive indoor pool areas you will find. A terrific winery open for tastings was within walking distance. The area around the hotel is charming.

Beautiful architecture, neat decor, and large rooms. Welcome glass of wine much appreciated. Easy to hike to the top and see the ruins, and nice promenade to walk or bike along the Danube. Nice indoor and outdoor pools, and fitness center seemed adequate although did not use. Afternoon complimentary tea is also offered. Great location to visit Melk for 1/2 day as well. Turndown service great as well. Breakfast had plenty of options.
